A cultural encounter with the Emberá on the Chagres River and waterfall

What you will do

Experience the Magic of the Emberá Community and Chagres National Park

Your adventure begins with a 7:30 AM pickup from your hotel in Panama City, followed by a scenic drive to Chagres National Park. At the port of Curutú, our Emberá hosts will greet us and guide us across the serene Chagres River in their traditional dugout canoes. As we glide through lush rainforest waters, take in the breathtaking natural beauty that surrounds you.

Upon arrival, we’ll embark on a moderate 20-minute hike through the jungle, leading to a hidden waterfall nestled deep within the rainforest. Here, you’ll have the chance to swim in crystal-clear freshwater—a refreshing and unforgettable experience in the heart of nature.

Afterward, we’ll return by canoe and head to the Emberá village, where a warm welcome awaits. Enjoy the rhythms of traditional music and savor a delicious, authentic lunch featuring fried fish, plantains, and fresh tropical fruits.

The day continues with a cultural presentation where you’ll learn about the Emberá’s rich heritage, customs, and way of life. Be captivated by vibrant dance and music performances that offer a deeper connection to this remarkable indigenous community.
