Combo: Gatun Lake, Monkey Island & Emberá Cultural Immersion

What you will do

Dive into one of Panama’s most authentic experiences with this full-day excursion, combining a boat tour on Gatún Lake, a visit to Monkey Island in Gamboa, and a deep cultural immersion in an Emberá indigenous community.

Located just one hour from Panama City, this adventure takes you into the heart of lush nature and a rich, vibrant indigenous culture. More than just a tour, it is a human encounter, a cultural journey, and a unique discovery of Panama’s heritage.

1. Exploration of Gatún Lake & Visit to Monkey Island (Gamboa)

Begin your day with a peaceful boat ride on the famous Gatún Lake, one of the key points of the Panama Canal.
As you glide between the dense jungle and small scattered islands, you will reach Monkey Island, where you may observe:

  • Curious and friendly capuchin monkeys
  • Quick and playful tamarins
  • Occasionally, howler monkeys swinging through the canopy

A magical encounter with local wildlife, right in the heart of the tropical rainforest.

2. Cultural Immersion in an Emberá Community

After this first visit, you will take the road for approximately one hour toward an Emberá village, also located on the shores of Gatún Lake, in the province of Colón.

Once there, your Emberá hosts will welcome you warmly before accompanying you on a 20‑minute canoe journey to their community nestled in the heart of nature.

The Emberá people warmly welcome you and immerse you in their ancestral culture through an authentic, participatory experience.
